Ducky Love.

This week has been pretty consistently rainy and cool. It seems that April had some sort of identity crisis and as a result, May has stepped up and brought with it both showers and flowers. Not that I didn't enjoy all the sunshine that April brought - but it's just not really April's deal. April showers, May flowers. And while were on the subject, I'd like to point out that March sort of flaked out on the whole lion-lamb program too. I think Mother Nature is getting really sick and the seasons are exhibiting some major symptoms. Good thing we got that whole oil spill thing cleaned up real quick... oh wait. Okay, I'm done - this wasn't supposed to be a rant. This was going to be a happy post. How did I end up on this negative tangent?

Ducks. This post was supposed to be about ducks. Mallards to be specific. So, like I was saying - this week has been very rainy and cool. I actually really like rainy days. There is something very serene about them. It's cool, quiet and everything seems just a bit calmer. Plus, I love jackets. While many women obsess over shoes and bags, I fill my closets with jackets. There. Now you know. Ducks don't have to wear jackets though. They have water-proof feathers. They do this little shimmy-shake dance and the water just flies right off. They must like the rain - or for some reason, I notice them more when it's raining. Or, it could just be that it rains a lot in the spring and that is when they are out and about doing their little ducky thing and being all flirtatious and bright. Whatever the reason, watching the boy ducks waddle behind the girl ducks through the rain just adds to the charm and comfort of a rainy day. They are just so cute. It's fun to daydream about a ducky romance between two mallards waddling through the rain with their goofy webbed feet and wide bills. At the very least, it keeps my mind off of oil spills and erratic weather patterns.

Chocolove

I just ate some of the best chocolate I have ever had. It's Chocolove and it is out of Boulder, Colorado. I had the strong dark bar and I am telling you, it is DELICIOUS!!! So good. I'm scheming a major plan at the moment to arrange for a lifetime supply of it. It involves my friend Paul, who is studying law in Boulder, staging a big scary legal dispute for the land on which the chocolate factory sits followed by a major rescue by Paul, after which he will be granted a lifetime supply of chocolate, which he will graciously share with me since it was all my genius idea. It will probably launch his career as well. Brilliant.

Until my plan goes down, however, I will just have to stock up at the grocery store. You can find them at Whole Foods and Target. Go get one now. You won't be sorry. They are so incredibly good I can't even...
scluurp....
oh no...

I just drooled all over the keyboard...

Love Letters...

When the air is this cold, every bit of moisture freezes, static electricity sneaks up and gives me random shocks and clingy pants, and the sun decides it would rather hang out in the southern hemisphere, leaving me seasonally depressed and in much need of vitamin D. This first winter without skiing being a major part of my schedule is starting to take its toll. I refuse to feel oppressed however! My Scandinavian roots and hearty Minnesotan ways are no match for the winter blues. I am arming myself with fresh produce, scarves, uplifting iTunes purchases, kickboxing classes and LOTS of moisturizers! So much so that I have decided to express and write a few love letters...

Chap-stick
I have known many a lip balm in my life, but you, my blue-tubed friend with SPF 15, are truly special. You smooth my lips and moisturize with lasting effect. Instead of leaving me chapped 30 minutes later, you actually heal the damage done by the cruel dry air. I also can't deny that your delicious flavor makes it all the more delightful to press my lips against you. If this isn't love - I don't know what is.

True Blue Spa "Lay it on Thick" Lotion
Dearest new little bottle of lotion, there is so much about you that I love. Your Shea butter, macadamia nut oil and vitamin E make my dry, chapped hands soft, silky and sweet-smelling. Since you came into my life, I have said goodbye to tiny cracks and hangnails. Never before have I met a cream as greasy and thick as you, and that is just what I was looking for. You are just what I needed. You complete me.

Jergen's Natural Glow Lotion
Although we don't get together as often as we probably should (I just don't have the time or energy), when we do, your magical ways make me glow. Unlike those oompa-loompa-orange self-tanners, you give barely a hint of color and transform me from anemic albino to a healthy glow. You smell a tad awkward but are very tolerable when compared to the tuna-melt stench I have experienced with others. So, every now and then, when I have to dress up and show some leg or the skin on my upper arms and neck, I will invite you back into my life for a rejuvenating fling. You are the sunshine of my life... in the winter.

Obsessed

I am obsessed with this song  by Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros. It's called "Home"  and it's quickly making its way onto my very non-willy-nilly all-time-favorites list.
 Love it.

Moats & boats & waterfalls, alley ways & pay phone calls
I’ve been everywhere with you

That’s true

We laugh until we think we’ll die, barefoot on a summer night
Nothin’ new is sweeter than with you
